Working out the kinks... literally and figuratively

Straight cardio last night (Mon 11/14):

TREADMILL
15 minutes
5 incline

STAIRMASTER
6 minutes

STATIONARY BIKE
10 minutes

According to livestrong.com - burned over 400 calories.   Still having issues with my back.  Wondering if I should maybe take a yoga class to really stretch out.  Swimming is helping, though.  Going to swim tonight.

Didn't eat well, though.  Still having trouble getting into an eating program.  Really don't want to diet, per se, but I need something fairly structured to follow.  Wish I could afford a nutritionist.

  1. I consulted with a nutritionist for a while, she didn't say anything that was "new" but provided some structure or accountability to what I was eating.

    Her recommendation for balancing a food program was 4 grain, 3 fruit, 2 dairy, 2 protein, 3 fat, 1 "treat" and unlimited vegetable (because I wasn't eating enough of them) servings per day (should be about 1400 calories).

    She also recommended the "Lose It" iPhone app, which I like and use constantly.

    You are doing great! Your motivation for exercise is awesome!

  2. thanks, michelle! i'll check out that app. i've been using livestrong.com, which is pretty good. i can't diet - well, more like refuse to diet - but i think the trick is to be prepared. i make poor choices when i don't have plenty of fruits and veggies and healthy snacks around.

    i'm really trying... my back has been hurting since i fell, but i'm still going to the gym, just doing swimming and cardio. getting back into shape at my age is really hard!!
